It is so good to see you!
Below is a breakdown of today’s service and message. You can find lyrics to the worship songs we will sing together, notes from today’s message, and break outs for both elementary, middle, high school aged kids. Our goal is to make today’s service as immersive as possible. If you are watching on Facebook or Youtube chat us! We are watching and responding. We can’t wait to hear from you!
We have changed the way we worship together, but our message and purpose are the same. We are excited to spend this time together to strengthen each other and build one another up in Christ. Today, during worship, we will participate in The Lord’s Supper as a church family, as well as tithing and offerings. We are here to chat on Facebook, Youtube, through email, and through our Connect Card if you have prayer requests or would like to speak to a minister. We miss you and want to hear from you! While you’re worshipping from home, snap a picture and tag us on social media. We would love to see your face!

“Surrounded (Fight My Battles)”
There’s a table that You’ve prepared for me
In the presence of my enemies
It’s Your body and Your blood You shed for me
This is how I fight my battles
There’s a table that You’ve prepared for me
In the presence of my enemies
It’s Your body and Your blood You shed for me
This is how I fight my battles
I believe You’ve overcome
And I will lift my song of praise for what You’ve done
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how
In the valley I know that you’re with me
Surely Your goodness and your mercy follows me
My weapons are praise and thanksgiving
This is how I fight my battles
I believe You’ve overcome
And I will lift my song of praise for what You’ve done
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how I fight my battles
This is how
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
It may look like I’m surrounded but I’m surrounded by You
“From The Inside Out”
A thousand times I’ve failed
Still your mercy remains
Should I stumble again
Still I’m caught in your grace
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing you praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
My heart and my soul
I give you control
Consume me from the inside out, Lord
Let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out
You say one word
Your will above all else
My purpose remains
The art of losing myself
In bringing you praise
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
My heart and my soul
I give you control
Consume me from the inside out, Lord
Let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring you praise
From the inside out
Lord, my soul cries out
Cry out for you
My heart and my soul
I give you control
Consume me from the inside out, Lord
Let justice and praise
Become my embrace
To love you from the inside out
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring you praise
From the inside out
Lord, my soul cries out
Everlasting
Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending
Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring you praise
From the inside out
Lord, my soul cries out
From the inside out
Lord, my soul cries out to you
“You Never Let Go”
Even though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle
Of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back, I know You are near
And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
And I can see a light that is coming
For the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
Yes, I can see a light that is coming
For the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
“Peace Be Still”
I don’t want to be afraid
Every time I face the waves
I don’t want to be afraid
I don’t want to be afraid
I don’t want to fear the storm
Just because I hear it roar
I don’t want to fear the storm
I don’t want to fear the storm
Peace be still
Say the word and I will
Set my feet upon the sea
Till I’m dancing in the deep
Oh, peace be still
You are here so it is well
Even when my eyes can’t see
I will trust the voice that speaks
I’m not gonna be afraid
‘Cause these waves are only waves
Oh, I’m not gonna be afraid
I’m not gonna be afraid
I’m not gonna fear the storm
You are greater than its roar
I’m not gonna fear the storm
Oh, I’m not gonna fear at all, yeah
Peace be still
Say the word and I will
Set my feet upon the sea
Till I’m dancing in the deep, oh
Peace be still
You are here so it is well
Even when my eyes can’t see
I will trust the voice that speaks
Peace, peace, yes
Over me
Let faith rise up
Oh heart believe
Let faith rise up in me
Peace be still
Say the word and I will
Set my feet upon the sea
Till I’m dancing in the deep, Lord
Peace be still
You are here so it is well
Even when my eyes can’t see
I will trust the voice that speaks
Peace, peace,
Over me
Oh heart believe
Let faith rise up in me
“I Give Myself Away”
[Chorus x2:]
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
Here I am
Here I stand
Lord, my life is in your hands
Lord, I’m longing to see
Your desires revealed in me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
Take my heart
Take my life
As a living sacrifice
All my dreams all my plans
Lord I place them in your hands
[Chorus x2:]
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
I give myself away
I give myself away
So You can use me
[Bridge x7:]
My life is not my own
To you I belong
I give myself, I give myself to you

WEEK 6: Set Your Mind
SCRIPTURE: Daniel 10:10-12 & 19
A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling. 12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. Vs. 19 Peace! Be strong now; be strong.
Words of direction and encouragement from the vision that Daniel received:
+ Sometimes the directions God gives us are scary – vs.10
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
+ When it comes to God’s calling in our lives we need to use careful consideration – vs.11
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ… Titus 2:12-13
+ We need to set our minds to gain understanding and humble ourselves before God – vs.12
Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. Philippians 3:19
+ God hears our words and will respond – vs.12
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.” John 11:41-42
The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. Revelations 8:4
+ Live in the Peace and Strength that God alone provides – vs.19
Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. 7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Joshua 1:6-7
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Ephesians 6:10-13
Conclusion: When we, “set our minds” like Daniel did, it opens up the possibility to know the Father’s peace through the strength and power to overcome fear!
Going Deeper Questions
- Consider sharing a time when God asked you to do something that was scary. {Leaders: be prepared to think and discuss in big picture categories… How fear, uncertainty, hopelessness, being unqualified, etc. can stifle/control us, but God helps us and gives us peace, strength, and power when we “set our minds” like Daniel did.}
- How did you get through it?
- What were your biggest concerns initially?
- What was the outcome?
- Better or worse than expected?
- What could have made for better or even worse outcome? {Leaders: make brief references to one of the STEPS one could take in the future…}
- When it comes to God’s calling, what steps can you take to make sure you are carefully considering your response.
-
- Esther 4:14, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
- STEPS:
-
- Make sure you’re seeking God’s will and NOT what you are willing to do.
-
- Seek wise counsel from those who are your spiritual peers or are more spiritually mature Prov 15:22
-
- Pray… again, again, and again.
-
- Make sure you count the cost and are willing to pay the price
- How do you separate relying on your strength or His Strength?

Your Gear:
In your bag you picked up you should have found a couple of markers, a map, and some directions! If you did not get a chance to pick up a bag- no worries! Draw or print a simple map, grab something to write with, and then you’re ready to go!
On your map, choose two points. One starting point and one ending point. Add different things on your map like mountains, woods, rivers, etc.. Once you have your two points and your added elements, give directions on how to get to point one to point two. You can either write the directions out or speak them to someone who is helping you!

Summary:
Today’s sermon was all about setting your mind, but not just setting it on anything- on Godly things! Daniel was walking through a hard time in life and was desperate for comfort and understanding. God heard Daniel’s cries and comforted him. He reminded Daniel to stand firm in Him and have peace, and it’s definitely a lesson we can learn from today! The sermon talked about how God’s calling can be scary and we need to use careful consideration when it comes to our calling, and this is where our map comes into play. When God calls us to do certain things, it takes careful consideration when listening to His voice and our directions. Sometimes God’s calling might be scary, but God is always with us and gives us directions and ways to follow His lead. Our directions may not be a map like we drew, but the Bible is a great source to use when God calls us to something big for His glory. When God gives us the calling we do not have to worry though, because God hears us and always responds. When we’re scared, troubled, or worried- He’s there just like He was for Daniel! When we, “set our minds” like Daniel did, it opens up the possibility to know the Father’s peace through the strength and power to overcome fear!
Discussion Questions:
- Has there ever been a time you got directions from God that scared you? What did you do?
- How can you have careful consideration when for God’s calling in your life?
- Sometimes using careful consideration means not doing what the world is doing, but strictly listening to God. How can you apply that to your life this week?
- Do you remember a time when you know God heard you and responded?
Welcome to Real Thoughts!
Challenging Our Students to Engage and Go Deeper in Their Faith Through Thought Provoking Prompts and Ideas.
In light of our temporary shift to online platforms, we are still looking to provide students with the opportunity to dive into the text and explore the faith through these conversations, but with their families now! We encourage each of our students to engage in the main worship service with their families while using their YMJ’s (Youth Ministry Journals) to flush out how the conversation from stage relates to them and where they are in their faith walk. The hope is that, in so doing, students will find themselves more ready to engage in conversation about the lesson with those around them, having gained a better understanding of what it is that the lesson means to them. So, join us this week as we continue in the conversation on Daniel, and dive into chapter 10!
Key Passage:
Daniel 10:10-12 & 19
Room For Thoughts:
Thinking out Loud
- What do you do when you feel like you have no more hope?
- When was a recent time that you saw God bring hope into a hopeless situation?
- What have you been “setting your mind” toward? Is it a person? Sport? Grade? Relationship? God?
- God promises to listen to our prayers when we come humbly and sincerely, yet, sometimes, it feels as though He isn’t. How have you wrestled with this dilemma in your past?
- What does listening for God’s voice look like in your life?
- To understand God’s calling on our lives we have to be actively turning ourselves towards Him and listening for His voice. When we do, we often find He has been waiting to speak into our situation this whole time.
