It is so good to see you!
We have changed the way we worship together, but our message and purpose are the same. We are excited to spend this time together to strengthen each other and build one another up in Christ. Today, during worship, we will participate in The Lord’s Supper as a church family, as well as tithing and offerings. We are here to chat on Facebook, Youtube, through email, and through our Connect Card if you have prayer requests or would like to speak to a minister. We miss you and want to hear from you! While you’re worshipping from home, snap a picture and tag us on social media. We would love to see your face!
If you want to share prayer requests with us, or speak with a pastor, you can fill out our Connect Card online.

Graves Into Gardens
But it couldn’t fill me
Man’s empty praise and treasures that fade
Are never enough
Then You came along
And put me back together
And every desire is now satisfied
Here in Your love
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
To show You my weakness
My failures and flaws, Lord, You’ve seen them all
And You still call me friend
‘Cause the God of the mountain
Is the God of the valley
There’s not a place Your mercy and grace
Won’t find me again
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
There’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You’re the only one who can
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You’re the only one who can
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You’re the only one who can
You’re the only one who can
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Oh, there’s nothing better than You
Lord, there’s nothing
Nothing is better than You
How He Loves
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden, I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves.
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If His grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
And heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves us,
Oh how He loves
My Savior My God
What God has willed, what God has planned
I only know at his right hand
Stands one who is my Savior
Christ died to save me: this I read
And in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior
And for sinful man to die
You count it strange, so once did I
Before I knew my Savior
My Savior’s always there for me
My God; He was, my God; He is
My God; is always gonna be
My Strength, my solace from this spring
That He who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior
My Savior’s always there for me
My God; He was, my God; He is
My God; is always gonna be
King Of Kings
Without hope, without light
‘Til from Heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfill the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross
For even in Your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
All of Heaven held its breath
‘Til that stone was moved for good
For the Lamb had conquered death
And the dead rose from their tombs
And the angels stood in awe
For the souls of all who’d come
To the Father are restored
And the church of Christ was born
Then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this gospel truth of old
Shall not kneel, shall not faint
By His blood and in His name
In His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ
Who has resurrected me, ohh
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
I Will Rise
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There’s an anchor for my soul
I can say “It is well”
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
“Worthy is the Lamb”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
“Worthy is the Lamb”
“Worthy is the Lamb”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
“Worthy is the Lamb”
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise

SERIES: CHURCHED based on the book of Acts WEEK 8
SCRIPTURE: Acts 12:1-10
12 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them. 2 He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword. 3 When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread. 4 After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.
5 So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
6 The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. 7 Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.
8 Then the angel said to him, “Put on your clothes and sandals.” And Peter did so. “Wrap your cloak around you and follow me,” the angel told him.9 Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.10 They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.

Summary:
Peter is in chains, in jail, only because he believes in Jesus. Not an ideal situation. However, as I’m sure you know- there is so much we can learn from today’s Scripture. Read Acts 12:1-10 together. Like the sermon mentioned, we can learn a couple of things from today’s sermon. First up, prayer is a gift. Mr. George used different words, but for us this is the focus. Prayer is a gift that we have because of our relationship with God. We should use prayer wisely, and like the Church did for Peter, use prayer for others! Second, there is a peace we should know. Peter is in chains in jail and he is sleeping! How?! Because he knows God has everything under control. Life may be hard, scary, unsure, and chaotic at times for us but it is never that way for God. He always knows what is coming and He is always in control! That is the peace we should know. Last, God often acts in surprising ways so be ready to move quickly. God wants us to always be ready for Him to work and move in our life. Peter was ready to do whatever God had for him, and we should be to!
Activity:
As a family, play red light green light. Choose someone to be it, when they say “green light” everyone walks towards them. If they say “red light” you must stop. First person to the person who is it, wins!
This game shows us physically how we must be ready to move like the third point talks about!
Discussion Questions:
- How can we use prayer as a gift?
- What does praying for others look like for you?
- How can you know true peace?
- How can you be ready to move for God?

Welcome to Real Thoughts!
Challenging Our Students to Engage and Go Deeper in Their Faith Through Thought Provoking Prompts and Ideas.
In light of our temporary shift to online platforms, we are still looking to provide students with the opportunity to dive into the text and explore the faith through these conversations, but with their families now! We encourage each of our students to engage in the main worship service with their families while using their YMJ’s (Youth Ministry Journals) to flush out how the conversation from stage relates to them and where they are in their faith walk. The hope is that, in so doing, students will find themselves more ready to engage in conversation about the lesson with those around them, having gained a better understanding of what it is that the lesson means to them. So, join us this week as we continue in the conversation on the Book of Acts!
Key Passage:
Acts 12:1-10
Room For Thoughts:
Food For Thought
- This story highlights the tension between God and the government. While we are told to obey the powers that God has set in place, how are we to do that when they seem to be going against what we know is the will of God?
- Peter obeyed what he believed to be God’s will and ended up in jail. Yet, despite this, it is apparent that he is still at peace. How can we remain hopeful when the circumstance we find ourselves in looks dire?
- Describe a time when God moved in your life in surprising ways to bring about positive change. What happened? how do you think God used that moment to better you?
- Do you feel as though you are in your own “jail” right now? If so right what it is and how you might be freed from it. Consider how God may use the bad circumstances you are in to better you in the future.
- While Peter was in jail, we see the people fervently praying for him. In what ways is the way they pray for him different from the way we might be tempted to pray today?
- What can we learn from the difference?
