Read today’s scripture: Isaiah 11:1-10
I find the simplicity and clarity of this message refreshing as the prophet looks forward to the future and speaks of the kingdom to come. Here we read of a prediction of the birth of the Messiah, Jesus, through the the “Branch” that comes “from the stem of Jesse” is in reference to the Messiah. In reading this passage we gather that the promised Savior, Jesus the Messiah would be a descendant of King David’s father, Jesse. This descendant would rule with true justice and true faith. This descendant would be sought by people throughout the world.
We believe that Jesus is the fulfillment of this Old Testament promise. Jesus is explained in the New Testament as a descendant of Jesse verifying this beautifully written prophecy. Jesus came as the suffering servant to pay our sin debt. Jesus will return to earth in the future and establish a kingdom of justice and righteousness. I know I find great comfort in knowing He is coming again.
What a wondrous God we serve!
