Read today’s scripture: Luke 1:18-25
Have you ever doubted God?
I have.
Somethings just seem to big. Not that I doubt God’s vastness, I see Him in everything, but I doubt that I am worth the power He possesses.
Why?
I have come to understand that I sometimes don’t trust the truth spoken about me. I am chosen, I am a co-heir, I am… I am a lot of things, and I am rooted in Christ. I have a foundation to be a force for the kingdom. That is powerful. You know who hates when we are powerful? The enemy– so he is going to whisper doubt and aim to distract us from who we were created to be.
Just like Zechariah, we can have doubts. I think God included this story in His written word to show our humanness. That He is way bigger than our doubts. When we doubt, may we be aware, take a moment to recognize, then allow it to press further into who God is and who He says we are. He also works despite our doubt. He gifts, provides, and never leaves us. Just like Zechariah, in our doubt He still favors us.
It is not my shame to lean into the Father. It is my honor. It is the gift of the cross. As we reflect on the gift of the cross, may we be in thanksgiving for the reason Christ came. The reason to celebrate the birth of our Savior. May we rest in the comfort and truth that the King of the universe came for each of us.
